- Life Drawing in Transition -

Here is another picture of the drawing of the young black man that I posted a couple of days ago. It has gone through some subtle changes and is close to being finished.

- Small Squares Watercolor -

In 1997 I was doing a series of watercolor abstracts using squares, circles and variations of these. They were small watercolors and most of them sold. Another Life Drawing

This is a large charcoal drawing that I've been working on. It measures about 29 x 37 inches and things tend to distort when working that large. ........Please click on image to see larger image......

- View from the Park Manor Hotel -

In 1996 I was hired by the San Diego Opera Company to paint some backdrops for a Vegas Seminar and they treated artists nicely and gave me a nice suite at the Park Manor Hotel across from Balboa Park. You could see the park in one direction and the ocean in the other. I used the dining area as a studio and painted watercolors after work. This was the view straight out the window. I sold the painting through an online New York art auction, but always liked it. I painted it letting the paint flow and not worrying so much about maintaining perfectly straight lines. Haven't done that technique since. Giclee prints are available. ........Please click on image to see larger image......

A Sketch of 'Pieta' by Michelangelo

Again playing with this impossibly difficult drawing program, I decided to try a sketch of La Pieta by Michelangelo........(please click on red arrow in the middle of the drawing)

- Fooling Around Again -

Was playing around today with "Rate My Drawing's" drawing tool. It tends to run out of ink quickly so you need to plan the drawing ahead a little bit. Click on the red arrow to see the animated drawing process.......

- Same Model With A Different Approach -

Tried to stretch my imagination a bit with this charcoal drawing of the same model but with a totally different approach. This was done in about an hour and a half. .......(please click on image to see larger version)

- A Quick Drawing from Life -

I've been taking a life drawing class to brush up on my skills and this is one of the first ones. It's a fairly fast drawing done with charcoal on Reeves paper (about 18 x 20 inches). The hardest part for me is keeping things proportional. .......(please click on image to see larger version)

- A Drawing of Trees -

Here is a pen and ink drawing that I did today. I used a Pigma Micron 005 tip drawing pen. I really like them because they come in several sizes and use permanent archival inks. You can also put watercolor washes over the drawing without fear of lifting the line. .......(please click on image to see larger version)

- I See The Ten Legged Alien -

Sometimes you just got to have some fun. It can be fun to draw with Rate My Drawings drawing pad. It also can be very frustrating, because it is anything but smooth and there are no blending options, so you have to use flat values to simulate shading.
